Buffalo Parrot FAQ

Q: What is a FAQ?
A: FAQ is an acronym for "Frequently Asked Questions." These are questions that people may ask frequently.

Website Related Questions:

Q: What is Buffalo Parrot?
A: Buffalo Parrot is a website totally about parrots and the Buffalo, NY area.    http://www.buffaloparrot.com/

Q: Who writes Buffalo Parrot?
A: The website is written by us, ordinary Buffalonians. We are not experts, but Parrot-culturists/Enthusiasts who know a lot about Parrots.

Q: Why did the writers make Buffalo Parrot?
A: We made Buffalo Parrot because we wanted a hobby!  And parrots are our thing! At the same time, we also wanted to help other people who seek help with Parrots, and have a little fun while doing it.

Q: Why are there so many pages and links?
A: We at Buffalo Parrot have so much information to give, that we need many places to put it all! We understand that it may be hard to find something you're looking for, so we try to make it a lot easier for you. We even made a search engine so you can search our website. You can do this by clicking here.

We also have a "page menu", just like the NavBar, and gives descriptions about each page so you know what to choose.

Q: I found a page that I look at frequently and I can't find it anymore. How come?
A:
Unlike most websites, Buffalo Parrot is changing almost every day. We're always adding information, editting mistakes, etc. This problem is probably because we are trying to make the NavBar smaller, and removing links there. The best way to find the page you're looking for is to use the Search Engine or Page Menu.

Q: Where is the Buffalo Parrot office?
A: Actually, we don't have one! Buffalo Parrot is run directly from our homes, in lovely Buffalo, New York.

Parrot Related Questions:

Q: What is a Parrot?
A: Parrots are a species of bird belonging to the order Psittaciformes. They are wonderful, and usually exotic. They range sizes anywhere from a few inches long, to a few feet long!

Q: Why are Parrots so popular?
A: Parrots are popular as pets because people love the way they look, for the most part. Most parrots are beautiful, and people love to look at them.  People are also attracted to the fact most parrots can mimic & talk to some degree or another.

Q: Where can I find parrots in the wild?
A: Parrots are found on almost every continent in the world. Antarctica is the only continent where you won't find Parrots flying around in the wild. This doesn't mean they are native. For example,  Parrots found in North America aren't native, and come from other lands. People brought them here, they got loose, and started breeding.

Q: How can I get a Parrot?
A: Obviously, anybody can go to a pet store and buy a Parrot. However it is not recommended to get them from any random place. You have to do research, first. For more information on where to buy Parrots, please click here.

"In our opinion "chain" Pet stores (PetSmart, PetCo, etc.) are not the way to go. Their birds are usually overpriced, neglected & fed only seed/pellet.  Sometimes they are in the store for quite some time and developing negative behaviors. Our #1 way to go would be through a Parrot rescue organization or local independent pet shop."

Q: Research? What kind of research do I need to do?
A: When getting a Parrot, there's a lot of research you must do before you even pick out a Parrot you want. You need to read books and look things up online. Buffalo Parrot is a great website for before-purchase research.
